Take a look at what’s been happening on site at Here East, from awards to internships and new tenants, it’s been a great start to Spring.
There’s been a lot happening on campus as Spring takes hold and our Canalside restaurants and bars buzz into the warm evenings.
Just in time to enjoy the good weather, we’re pleased to announce the opening of two long anticipated new tenants: Sports Interactive (watch the tour here) and MATCHESFASHION, have completed their fitouts and now call Here East home. Joining them soon, we’re thrilled to share that Neopost, Barratt Homes and Scope are now busy on site with their own fitouts due for completion in the coming months.
Over the years, we’ve worked alongside our engineers, partners and architects at Cundall, Buro Happold, Laing O'Rourke, Hawkins\Brown and Delancey to create a powerful legacy for the 2012 London Olympic Games. This April, our hard work was recognised when the British Council for Offices celebrated the diversity and innovation that define our 1.2 million sq ft campus on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and announced thatour campus won the Best Refurbished / Recycled Workplace category.
Meanwhile, the work continues at The Gantry. We’re proud to say that this is the first build of its kind at this scale, using open source WikiHouse technology twinned with parametric coding tools. This Spring, we heard from the people behind the project and can now share our feature video which includes interviews the architects, designers, engineers and planners who have been involved in this unique build from day one:
As part of Engineer Here, there will be range of events hosted by Here East and our tenants including UCL, Ford, Hobs, celebrating the world of engineering. The programme of activities will showcase innovation taking place on the Here East campus including a whole range of family-friendly and educational activities. Such as UK Robotics Week and Open House.
It’s been a great month for everyone on campus, here are some of the highlights from our tenants:
Plexal have been appointed by the UK Government to deliver the new London Cyber Innovation Centre at Here East. Opening soon, it will bring together the rising stars of UK cyber security under one roof to source solutions and tackle real world cyber security problems. Plexal have also come together with London Legacy Development Corporation (Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park) and A New Direction (Create Jobs) to create Startup Interns: a new internship programme that aims to connect diverse talent into creative and digital opportunities being generated in Plexal.
Loughborough University London have also just launched Inspiring Success: career guidance and support for East London graduates. This two-part initiative aims to provide employment support and funding for unemployed or underemployed graduates from the East London Growth Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
There was also some big news for Ford who revealed their beautiful new Ford Focus at Here East. Take a look at our packed out theatre as their new car takes centre stage:
