Here East at SXSW
Many decades ago we all mused over the point of the internet. There were doubters, naysayers and plenty of fear-mongering. In 2023, the internet’s biggest critics thirty years ago would now struggle to say that the internet has not transformed all our lives - particularly the way we do business, beyond recognition. At SXSW, Here East and UK House will explore the possibilities of the Metaverse and look beyond the hype.
Beyond the Hype: Exploring the Metaverse
Given the evolving hype around the Metaverse, at Here East, we established that it is the right time for the same question to be asked of the metaverse and its future - and to look beyond the hype. To explore this, we’ll be undertaking a series of roundtables looking at the “now, near, next” of the Metaverse economy. The SXSW event will showcase a series of roundtable discussions, looking at all aspects of the Metaverse, from the impact of the Metaverse on society and culture to unleashing the creative potential of the Metaverse for music, culture and the arts.

Virtual Twin Showcase & Networking
Here East at SXSW
Here East will be hosting a roundtable event at SXSW on Sunday 12 March 2pm – 4pm, with a Virtual Twin Showcase from 4pm onwards. The purpose is to explore how we can use Metaverse concepts and technologies to design for the real-world - from visualising future buildings at human scale to allowing people to inhabit and enjoy entirely synthetic interiors. Below is a breakdown of what is on and what's to expect from our expert panelists.
