Different makes the difference
2021

The 20/21 Impact Report reflects a year shaped by the realities of COVID-19 and the strength of the Here East community. As the pandemic reshaped how people worked, learned and connected, the campus continued to evolve as a place where collaboration, creativity and opportunity could thrive. Through partnerships with educators, innovators and local organisations, Here East remained focused on supporting people, nurturing talent and creating positive change across East London, demonstrating how a shared vision can drive progress even in challenging times.
While the landscape has changed beyond recognition, even in this most challenging of years, our ability to work with, and support, communities has not diminished. The pandemic has put significant pressure on jobs, training and mental health, highlighting the challenges we must all face together. And so, we understand the need for businesses across all industries to collaborate with education providers and engage closely with their local communities to make a tangible, long-lasting difference.

Community response and real impact

Here East’s long-standing commitment to social impact has been recognised nationally, with the campus named best in the commercial category at the Grand Final of the National RICS Social Impact Awards 2020, reflecting its positive and transformational role within the built environment and local community. In response to the challenges facing local communities during the pandemic, Here East and its tenants also mobilised quickly to provide practical support where it was needed most. From delivering food parcels and assisting hospitals to supporting schools and vulnerable families, the campus demonstrated how a collaborative ecosystem can make a real difference beyond its walls.
