Here East invites you to the fourth installment of its Future Talks series, exploring Is Technology Killing Entertainment?
We’re in a new era of entertainment – one that has been radically changed and enhanced by innovations such as Abba Voyage or Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour which brought her live concert experience into fans’ homes. This is juxtaposed with a rising tide of concern, exemplified by Hollywood’s recent writer and actor strikes, alongside lawsuits by major publishers and record labels on AI’s infringement of copyright laws. It leaves us with a big question to discuss – is technology changing the world of entertainment for better or worse and what does its future hold?
Taking place at Here East in Plexal on Tuesday 27th February from 5:00 pm-7:30 pm, the event will bring together leaders from business, the entertainment industry, and academia, and together, we will explore how technology will change the entertainment industry, as well as looking at London as an entertainment hub and what needs to be done for the city to be seen as a global leader.
There will be a fireside chat with Jamie Hindhaugh, VP Content and Host Broadcast at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports. Jamie is a television industry veteran and was part of the team which launched TNT Sports in July 2023, and previously was responsible for the BBC’s multiplatform coverage of the Olympics in 2012.
In addition, there will be a panel where experts from the world of entertainment will be debating whether technology is changing entertainment for better or worse. Confirmed panellists to date include:
- Richard Wallace, Founder of LMA - Richard is at the heart of media, music and performing arts institution Liverpool Media Academy which is co-owned by popstar Robbie Williams.
- Suhair Khan, Chair, Studio Wayne McGregor -Surhair is an entrepreneur who spent over a decade at Google Arts & Culture, leading initiatives merging cutting edge technologies with arts, design and culture. Today, she is on the board of the UK’s leading cultural institutions including the Design Museum and Sadler’s Wells.
The event will include networking with drinks and canapes plus a keynote presentation followed by a lively panel discussion.
