Join us for a free week of fun filled ‘Lunch & learn’ sessions at Here East. Starting the week off right with a workshop on the neuroscience of mind and motivation followed by drop in creative sessions that include a chance to try still life drawing which is open to seasoned artists and novices alike. There is also an opportunity to try calligraphy for beginners, with all equipment provided, plus try screen printing on to canvas bags then finishing up with a workshop on growing plants and herbs indoors.

Activity: The neuroscience of mind and motivation

Do you ever struggle for motivation? Start with healthy intentions without always seeing them through? 

Then why not join our lunchtime talk on 'The Neuroscience of Motivation' with Health Coach & Founder of Innerfit Chris Pinner. Your session will share an insight into how our brain works when it comes to staying motivated and share 5 Pillars for Change to help you achieve your goals, whether they be fitness, diet or otherwise. You will come away with clear techniques to apply in your life and a physical handout, so you turn knowledge into action over the following 2 weeks and beyond.

Activity: Still Life Drawing (drop in)

Come and join our still life drawing session, a creative workshop designed for all skills sets including those with little or no previous drawing experience. Our expert teacher will guide you through the session, covering all the basics and giving you insider tips of how to get the best from your materials. This fun, dynamic session makes the artform easy and accessible and allows you to become more confident in your creative process. You will come away with some sketches, a range of impressive techniques and extra materials so you can carry on practising at home.

Activity: Calligraphy for beginners (drop in)

Learn how to write beautifully using ink and nib, unlock your creativity and explore how to put a modern twist on the classic artform of calligraphy in your own unique style. Equally suitable for left-and right-handers, modern calligraphy is a beautiful skill to learn and a relaxing one too. This is a beginner’s workshops - no experience is necessary, and all your materials are included.

Activity: Screen Printing – Make a tote bag (drop in)

Our drop-in printmaking studio will be popping up at Here East to teach you to screen print your own unique tote bag, providing an interactive experience and a handmade item to take away. Using the mono-screen print technique, you can choose a preferred design from our selection of pre-exposed screens and create a unique printed bag. You will learn how to use the squeegee and professional techniques to create effective, multicoloured prints. Open to all levels and abilities and all materials are provided.

Activity: Growing Indoors: Planting for Food & Wellbeing (drop in)

Join our resident horticulturalist to learn how to grow your own kitchen garden at home with no outdoor space required. In this session you will learn which are the most effective plants to grow without a garden and the beneficial health properties of various herbs, salad leaves and medicinal plants. The session will cover seed sowing, transplanting, taking cuttings, and tips on how to keep your plants happy indoors even for beginner level gardeners. All materials are provided, and you will be able to take some plants away with you to start your new indoor garden.
