We are delighted to introduce the sixth edition of the Here East Impact Report. This year we’ve focused on our global impact which reflects on how Here East, our tenants, and our partners have delivered a positive impact in our local community as well as beyond over the last 12 months.
What does it mean to ‘make an impact’? This is a question we’ve explored continuously over the past six years of measuring how we’re making a difference in East London. What we’ve learnt is that true impact means taking the ideas, innovations, and initiatives sparked here beyond the boundaries of our campus, and out into the global landscape.
This year’s report offers a compelling snapshot of how we’ve done just that over the past year; celebrating the achievements of our teams, tenants and collaborators and setting the scene for another year of game-changing growth on the path ahead.
Alongside insightful pieces from Here East CEO, Gavin Poole; Here East COO, Mike Magan; Plexal CEO, Andrew Roughan; and our Community and Partnership Manager, Onaba Payab; the report offers a series of spotlights on some of our inspiring tenants and alumni, including Loughborough University, Sports Interactive, and Panda Surgical.
Celebrating Here East’s milestones over the past year, the report also lays out a timeline of recent landmark moments on our campus. This includes how we’re tackling child poverty in East London through our Charity Partnership with Badu; our exploration of the emerging technologies shaping tomorrow at our Future Talks series; and the expansion of our campus in the online world through the launch of our virtual twin.
As a pillar of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and emblem of the area’s legacy, we are extremely proud to be part of this innovation district changing the lives of local people and raising London’s profile as an innovation leader on the global stage.
Sharing his perspective on Here East as a local growth story with global impact, Gavin said:
“As Here East continues to embrace breakthrough technologies, our sixth Impact Report reflects on the past 12 months and our role in the ongoing transformation of East London as a home for world-changing innovations. The last year has been a chance to reflect on what ‘making an impact’ really means for Here East, whether in our local community, across London more widely, throughout the country, or around the world.”
And underscoring how our campus is turning today’s ideas into tomorrow’s impact, Mike said:
“Innovation, collaboration, and community are the foundation upon which Here East was founded a decade ago. These remain our golden threads; binding our mission to deliver shared prosperity across East London and beyond. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far in 2024, but with our sights set firmly on the horizon, I’m also excited to see how we’ll push the boundaries further in this next chapter.”
