Here East will be welcoming Olympic diver Leon Taylor, sporting soprano Laura Wright and choreographer Claudia Catalina onto campus for National Fitness Day. The sporting greats will be hosting a free activity-packed day at Here East on September 26th as part of SportsAid Week. The week of fun and fundraising is designed to support the next generation of British athletes aiming to represent Team GB and ParalympicsGB at future Olympic and Paralympic Games.

SportsAid will have a stand in the Press Centre reception on the day where you’ll be able to find out more about the charity, sign up for challenges, make a donation and purchase tickets for the SportsAid Week Grand Prize Draw.

National Fitness Day will kick off at 8am with a sunrise yoga session led by Olympic silver medalist and yoga instructor, Leon Taylor. The session will feature music by the talented ‘Sporting Soprano’, Laura Wright, known for performing the national anthem at Twickenham. Leon will lead a functional yoga flow class to awaken the body and leave you feeling energised for the day ahead. This class will be suitable for all levels and attendees will end their session with a complementary Mother smoothie. 

Next up at lunchtime, Leon will be leading a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class incorporating exercises used by athletes in their training. HIIT is a form of interval training pairing short bursts of intense aerobic exercise with longer recovery periods. Get the most out of your lunch break with this energetic class delivered by one of the industry’s leading experts. The Olympic-themed HIIT workout is suitable for all levels.  

The day will round off with an after-work Tribal Fitness session taking place at 6pm. Tribal Fitness is a dance fitness class based on traditional African and Latin tribal dance steps alongside uplifting music. This fun-filled class will motivate you get moving while learning rhythms from different cultures. You’ll be taught by Danish-Peruvian choreographer Claudia Catalina who has choreographed for the Latin Billboard Awards and performed at the Royal Theatre in Lima, Peru.
